What happened to Trevor?

Anyone who saw the first film will be asking this question: What happened to the uncle, Trevor and the Mountain Guide? It was not explained what happened to mom's new boyfriend in Canada and how they ended up with the new man, step father (The Rock) in Detroit. However! This was a good film on its own and we still had the original Sean. We saw it in 3D, although probably just as good in 2D as I saw no real need for 3D (unlike AVATAR which was pure 3D!) Its a cute film.
