What's the plot?
Based on the cult TV series, Tim Burton’s gothic horror ‘Dark Shadows’ charts the life of vampire Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp) over three centuries.

Accidentally freed from the tomb he was confined to by witch Angelique in 1752, he returns to 1972 Maine to find his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin along with his once-proud family.

However, some things never change and Barnabus must once again battle monsters, witches and werewolves to regain his mastery of Colinwood Manor.

‘Dark Shadows’ also stars Michelle Pfeiffer and Eva Green.

This was a typical 'man out of his time' film which provided a few laughs (most of which are shown in the trailers. Usually a big fan of Depp/Burton but this lacked a certain something...and at times the film felt like it was really dragging and I did find myself from time to time losing interest. There were one or two suggestive moments I felt a little embarrassed watching with my niece and nephew so I wouldnt take young children to watch.

The cinema was full and not too many happy people walked out afterwards. The problems are easy to identify:
1/ Unfunny throughout
2/ Poorly scripted
3/ Great cast totally under used
4/ Disjointed story line
5/ Without charm
